Remembering David Oliver Best

My memories of David embrace working togther in the Bank , as well as having a great time as we enjoyed the several social gatherings,parties and beach parties over the years going to all the locations to which we were invited .
David took his job at the bank quite seriously and engendered the respect of his employers, peers, all persons whom he supervised and even some who did not fall directly under his tutelage, as well as from the many customers with whom he interacted.
He was quite in nature, loved his family and embraced all who were close to him . He also loved a celebration and those annual vacation furloughs to Bathsheba can never be forgotten where all family and close friends were invited. Of course wife Anita was very much integral to the team and welcomed all with open arms ensuring that everyone was fed and had enough to drink whenever you were there. In those days, it was bring a bottle if you cared to, but to be sure there would be enough to eat and drink for all.
The remarkable sound of the Tropical Islanders was one of David’s love and I suspect that if music royalties were in vogue then, David might have chalked up quite a debt given the amount of time their vinyl records were played. To this day some forty-five years later, whenever I hear the music of that group, I remember David/Anita and all our dear friends back then.
His has been a life of decency and caring, and love of family worthy of emulation. May the Angels greet him as he crosses the River, granting him Celestial Peace in Glory!
