Desmond was predeceased by his loving partner Anne. He is survived by his children Peter, Berthram, Michael, Madeline, and Martin.

Desmond was always passionate about social justice and activism. He was an active member of the Labour Party and local councillor. He served as a board member at Age Concern(UK), was Chair of the Lambeth police committee, and a school governor amongst many of his volunteering interests.

As an active member of his community, Desmond fervently fought for the rights of the underserved and overlooked in his local community. He dedicated much of his free time to social welfare and serving the people of his beloved Clapham constituency.
