Good afternoon! Once again, we come together as a family, to mourn/ celebrate the earthly departure of someone we loved.
I remember Ms. Molly Mayers (affectionally known at that time), as a well educated, soft spoken, quiet, and classy cousin.
She was my after school “lesson’s teacher,” and that of my cousin, Lydia Lemon( U.S.A). She prepared us for the Common Entrance Exam, also called” the 11+ Exam She would walk to school ( Holy Innocent’s Mixed), with mathematical exercises she needed me to complete before our next meeting. ” I want to see you guys going to the Alleyne School.” Unfortunately, we didn’t enter Alleyne, but went on to Cooperative High.
Dear Molly, I want you to know that although I did not apply all of the educational methods you taught me there, I utilized them in the U.S.
I emigrated to the U.S in 1989, and seriously and effectively applied those skills and methods. By doing, so, I have earned my degree in Sociology with a Minor in Social Justice.
Over the years, I have worked as Social Worker/ Social Services, a Legal Advocate assisting Women in DV & SA situations, a Housing Court Advocate, and Laision and Advocate for education, especially those in Inclusion School. This educatonal attainment would not be possible without your patience, care and education skills. Thank you so very much cousin. Forever with the Lord
