It was a pleasure interacting with Nigel over the years at CIMH – quiet, unassuming and always willing to serve. His contribution to training meteorologist throughout the region is greatly appreciated.
May he rest in peace.
Condolences to the family.
“People may forget what you say or do, but they will never forget how you made them feel” (Maya Angelou).
Small kindness creates lasting impressions. This is testament to the time and effort put in by Mr. Atherley to make sure that no one was left behind. My condolences to your family and friends. Sleep well.
I will always remember Nigel’s dedication to teaching and going beyond the call of duty in tutoring his students – spending extra time with many of them to ‘bring them up to speed’. For this he was well respected. A gentleman that never seemed flustered, but always pleasant and respectful.
My deepest condolences to Mr. Atherley’s family and friends. He was a remarkable teacher, patient, meticulous, and deeply committed to ensuring that his students understood even the most challenging concepts. He always made time to support those who needed extra guidance.
His legacy lives on through the countless students he taught across the region during his tenure at CIMH. As a former student and now a lecturer at CIMH, I continue to draw inspiration from his example and strive to emulate the patience and dedication he demonstrated in his teaching. Rest in peace, Mr. Atherley. You were a legend to many throughout the region.
My sincere condolences to the family of Nigel Atherley. Nigel was one of the nicest persons I have ever met. He was a tower of knowledge and positivity which he willingly shared with anyone who simply asked. I can honestly say he played a great part in my educational achievements. So sad to hear of his passing.
Sleep in Power my friend.

Sincere condolences to Mr. Atherley’s family, friends, former CIMH colleagues, students and loved ones from all of us at Hydromet – Guyana. Nigel’s life was one of purpose; his kindness, tolerance and humility impacted many lives, including many of us who encountered him in the mathematics class at the CIMH. My life is better because I encountered this lovely gentleman.
