Today we say our final farewells to our friend and as i called him, “My adopted grandad” or Sir Sydney as that was how I addressed him when wet met.
It was a blessed day when I saw him and introduced myself and days following we went to lunch not far from my workplace, it was one of the best lunch hours I’ve ever had. It was indeed fun and educational, he was one of the sweetest people one had the privilege of meeting.
After lunch I asked his permission to share our short story on Facebook and he was very pleased to say “certainly” (I wasn’t sure how much he knew about social media) but it was indeed a joy to share our experience with others.
From that post, a lot of curious questions were answered and he did have a lot of admirers, especially from those who always wondered who he was.
Rest in peace grandad / Sir Sydney we will meet again one day.
“Sir Philip”, was the title you told me you were affectionately given by your contemparies. You carried yourself with the dignity that such titles, whether official or via nickname, demands coupled with the high degree of humility that you displayed. I thank you for all the knowledge that you shared during our general conversations, especially your recollection about history of eras long passed. Sleep well my friend. Your wings have been plummed for that higher flight as you continue to soar Up and On
What does it mean..” this comment is awaiting moderation.” I am his cousin, and would simply like to share my remembrances.
As a child I remember him on visits to my aunt Rose in Chapman Street, then as one of my teachers at Combermere, but he was always Cousin Sydney, a quiet and dignified individual, with an ever present smile. R.I.P.
Condolences to the family and friends of Mr. Archer he taught me at the metropolitan high School may his soul RIP.
Mr. Archer it was a pleasure meeting you and making sure all was well and you were cared for by your God Send Ava.
You fought a good fight. May You Rest in Peace and Rise in Glory.
Up & On!!
Sincere condolences on Mr. Archer’s passing!
Nicola, you, Stevon and Ava were his present-day angels. Thanks to each of you for taking excellent care of him and for placing him in Ava’s care. God will continue to richly bless you for your kindness, thoughtfulness and selflessness!
May he rest in peace and rise in glory!!
